Tulsa Time!

Next stop of the Spring 2010 trip was in Tulsa, Oklahoma (after an overnight stay in Des Moines, Iowa).  I should mention that a stop was made on the trip in Ames, Iowa at Hickory Park for a meal (yummy)!

It was very warm in Tulsa during my visit, and I enjoyed visiting the brand new downtown ballpark (for the AA baseball team – Tulsa Drillers).  The Drillers are the AA minor league team of the Colorado Rockies & they played the Springfield Cardinals the night I was there (Friday, April 23, 2010).

This new ballpark was very impressive, and had all of the bells & whistles of family friendly ballparks.  There was a kids play area beyond right field, there was a picnic sitting area in left field, and a nice lawn area for those that wanted to spread out a blanket and watch the game from the outfield!  Overall a very family friendly and fun experience.

I enjoyed a great hamburger at “Fat Boys Burger Bar”, within walking distance of the ballpark (beyond leftfield), as the Cardinals won by a 4-3 score over the hometown Drillers on this night.  Was a very fun and enjoyable evening in Tulsa!
