The Free Gift of God's Grace

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" - Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace is the favor shown by God to us, achieved through what Jesus did on the cross. Our past sins are not only forgiven (through Jesus' sacrifice), but we are transformed to live a new life with God's power and grace working within us.

Good works are proof of our salvation, not a requirement of salvation (as Jesus paid the full price for us).

When you accept the free gift of God's grace, you become aware of who you've become in Christ...and where you now stand with God.

That you are His child. That you carry his nature. That you're not trying to become - you've already been brought into the kingdom of His Son.

And your heart begins to see that, and everything starts to shift. Grace begins to work in you and through you. That's where salvation becomes real here and now, in this life.

Boldness replaces hesitation. Rest (peace) replaces striving (longing). Life replaces death.

The Journey

"If we are ever unlucky enough to have it made, then we'll be spectators and not participants in life. It's the journey, not the arrival, that counts. Does the road wind uphill all the way? Yes, to the very end". - Unknown

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not naive. It isn't forgetting. It's not saying that what the other person said or did was okay in any way. It doesn't mean leaving yourself exposed to future attacks. Forgiveness is the choice to love and let go, not to hate and hold on.
